The exact system behind getting cited by ChatGPT in 30 days

Session recap: Vee's CITED Framework, 15 to 800+ pages, ChatGPT citations...

Hey Vibe Marketer,

If you searched for your own business in ChatGPT right now, would you show up?

In 2026, search isn't just moving, it's splitting. Informational queries go straight to AI overviews. Zero clicks. No blue links.

If you're not being cited, you're slowly becoming invisible to a growing slice of your market before they ever find you.

So, how do you get cited in ChatGPT and Perplexity?

Yesterday, in the vibe marketer’s mentor session, Vee Khuu, marketing operator and digital marketing director based in Denver showed his 5-phase CITED Framework that lets you get cited by ChatGPT in 30 days.

And the most exciting part? Vee took my Local Domination Blueprint, the same system behind my own boring local business applied it to a real construction client in the Bay Area, and then layered in AI agent teams, AEO optimization, and rapid indexing on top of it.

What a traditional agency would charge $5K–$10K for, he rebuilt for $500 of compute!

This setup turned 15 pages into 800+, ranked for competitive Bay Area terms, earned ChatGPT and Perplexity citations within 30 days and survived Google's March 2026 spam update without flinching.

Vee brought the entire system to the session and broke it down live.

Here's the recap:

#1. Good AEO looks a lot like good SEO

Google published this directly at Google Search Central. No separate ranking system for AI overviews. No way to pay your way in. Their AI is trained to detect bought mentions. The core ranking system is still unchanged.

AEO is SEO, done extremely well. That's the 70%.

The remaining 30% is what separates the businesses showing up in ChatGPT from the ones that have quietly gone invisible.

Most people are optimizing for the 70%. The 30% is where the citations are.

#2. Your competitor gets cited because they answered questions you didn't.

Every query fans out into 8 or more sub-queries underneath. The AI isn't just answering your question it's asking itself everything related to it before it surfaces a response.

If your site answers 2 of those sub-queries and your competitor answers 6, they get cited. You don't. It doesn't matter how good your main page is. You lost before the answer was even generated.

The hub and spoke content structure exists to dominate all of them. Not just the main keyword. Every related question, every angle, every intent around your topic.

Topical authority isn't a nice-to-have anymore. It's the entry ticket.

#3. Your proprietary data is your moat

Google calls it non-commodity content. Your private IP. Data that nobody else has.

For Vee's construction client it was permit times by county. Procurement costs from Asia. Exact pricing breakdowns. Process timelines. The kind of mundane operational data that lives in spreadsheets and never makes it to the website because it feels too boring to matter.

LLMs love this data. Because nobody else has it. And nobody can challenge it.

Vee published all of it. No competitor was looking at this. It felt too mundane to bother with.

It became the reason the site got cited.

I shared my own example. A sports betting product where I published proprietary model data on every player in the league. 3,000 pages of unique data that nobody else had structured and published. Same principle.

Your process. Your real numbers. Your actual results. The data only you could publish that's your moat. And right now almost nobody is using it.

#4. The CITED Framework: the exact system behind 800+ pages and ChatGPT citations in 30 days.

Vee built a 5-phase CITED framework. The foundation behind that framework is my Local Domination Blueprint and rebuilt for how AI search actually works in 2026.

Each phase covers a specific layer of the system: from competitive intelligence and information architecture, all the way through content production with parallel agent teams, on-page optimization for both AI and traditional search, and the indexing and feedback loop that keeps you visible after you are cited.

It's the full playbook to get cited.

#5. Your site can disappear from ChatGPT overnight.

LLMs re-index constantly. Freshness is a ranking signal. Someone publishes newer content on the same topic and you lose your spot sometimes overnight.

The fix is a feedback loop most people never build. A last updated timestamp on every page. Fresh evidence, always. And a regular check across multiple models to catch the moment you slip before it becomes a problem.

The businesses that stay cited aren't the ones who built the best site once. They're the ones running the feedback loop every week.

#6. Optimize for the chat history layer

Every article has three buttons at the top. ChatGPT. Claude. Perplexity.

Each one pre-fills a prompt: "Summarize this article and save it as a reference."

A user in buy mode lands on the page, clicks the button, saves the article to their AI memory. Next time they ask a related question, the site resurfaces. Not because of a backlink. Not because of a ranking. Because it's already in their context.

It's a small button. Most visitors won't notice it.

But it's playing a layer most people don't even know exists and that is the chat history layer. The one part of AI search you can influence through the user, not through the algorithm.

In 12 to 18 months, every competitor will have thousands of optimized pages, parallel agent teams, and AEO-structured content. This won't be an edge. It'll be the baseline.

The businesses that move now are the ones that get cited first, build the topical authority first, and own the search real estate before everyone else figures out the game has changed.

The window is open. It won't stay that way.
